Why Do You Need Physical Therapy?
Physical therapy is a powerful non-invasive way to heal and enhance your body’s function. At KIME Performance we practice evidence based care to transform lives. Here’s why you might need it.
Recovery from Injury or Surgery: Physical therapy is essential in the healing process after an injury or surgical procedure. Our customized programs help you regain strength, flexibility and function, often accelerating your recovery time. We guide you through each stage of rehabilitation so you can safely and effectively return to your normal activities.
Increased Mobility and Function: If you’re struggling with reduced mobility or finding everyday activities difficult, physical therapy can make a big difference. We work with you to increase your range of motion, strengthen key muscle groups and overall function. This means easier movement, better balance and reduced risk of falls especially for our older clients. Physical therapy can also improve overall health leading to better quality of life and physical function.
Sports Performance Enhancement: For athletes and fitness enthusiasts physical therapy isn’t just about recovery, it’s about optimization. Our sports performance programs can help you achieve more, increase your strength, speed, endurance and technique while reducing your risk of injury and illness.

Sports Injuries Rehabilitation
At KIME Performance we know sports injuries require a specialized approach. Our sports injury rehabilitation program is designed to get athletes back to their sport quickly and safely while addressing the underlying issues that may have caused the injury. We treat many injuries including hand, knee, shoulder, spine and hip injuries that can come from high intensity sports, repetitive movements, accidents, trauma or underlying conditions.
We treat many sports related injuries including:
- Sprains and strains
- ACL and other ligament injuries
- Rotator cuff injuries
- Tennis elbow and golfer’s elbow
- Runner’s knee
- Achilles tendonitis
- Stress fractures
Our techniques and methodologies for athletes include:
- Manual Therapy: Our hands-on approach is the foundation of our treatment. We use advanced manual techniques to manipulate soft tissues and joints to increase mobility, reduce pain and enhance function. This includes myofascial release, joint mobilization and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation (PNF) stretching.
- Musculoskeletal Care: We provide comprehensive care for the entire musculoskeletal system. This involves thorough assessments of muscle imbalances, joint dysfunction and movement patterns. We treat not just the site of pain but the entire kinetic chain to ensure optimal function and prevent future injuries.
- Strength and Conditioning: We believe in the power of progressive targeted exercise to heal and prevent injuries. Our strength and conditioning programs are customized to each athlete’s sport and specific needs. We focus on building functional strength, increasing power output and overall athletic performance.
- Dry Needling: This advanced technique involves inserting thin needles into specific trigger points in the muscle to release tension, reduce pain and improve function. Dry needling is great for treating muscle knots, chronic pain and increasing range of motion.
We don’t just treat your injury, we rebuild you as an athlete. Our goal is to have you back to your sport stronger, more efficient and better equipped to perform at your best. With our comprehensive approach to sports injury rehabilitation you can trust you’re getting the best care in Reno.

Our Approach
First Session
We spend our first session getting to know you. We evaluate how you move and we discuss a plan of action to get you back. You move, we measure and assess, looking for dysfunctions and risk factors. Some of the tests are simple and straightforward and some are complex and require great detail. We have the tools and the resources to measure it all – motion, strength, power and force.
Follow Up Session
We coach you and work with you on implementing the plan, progressing the plan or modifying the plan based on how your body responds to the stimulus we provide.
Personalized Treatment Plans
Every plan is custom, based on you and the science of healing. That’s why the physical therapist in front of you has to be excellent, which is why they work at KIME. Our team, with a history of excelling in sports and working with top athletes and specialists, are committed to ongoing learning, research and education. Patient Testimonials
“KIME PT is the best choice for PT… my therapist Niko is excellent. His modality of treat consists on hands on, dry needling and cupping. I have experienced all of the above and they have truly helped.
Niko is very knowledgeable…. He is very patient, and his attention to what exercises for the problem are always very helpful. Being in the gym environment gives KIME access to my trainer for suggestions on my workouts. I think PT and the gym are an excellent pairing! Thanks KIME I appreciate you all.” – Kris
“KIME is really in a class of its own. What makes KIME really stand out from the competition is its staff. They are nothing less than fantastic. I’m a runner, been doing it for over 30 yrs. And, well it’s finally catching up with me. Was it not for the knowledge that Maggie (my Physio therapist) carries, there is no way I would have finished my last marathon…” – Luis
“I am an “older” physician and had knee replacement and needed PT. Maggie came highly recommended from a colleague as she has her PhD in physical therapy. She is professional and very genuine to interact with, which made me feel very comfortable. Additionally, she has an arsenal of techniques/therapies and exercises to help me regain my mobility back. It is without hesitation I would recommend her to anyone with physical therapy needs here in Reno.” – Robert
